What Tale is This?

I loved to go through the all the artwork that Night Walker used to posts on his/her Facebook page. This picture was always one of my favorites. I can see there is a story, something timeless, that I'd love to read. When I first posted this pic on an older blog, I said I would love to hear someone tell that story, but I am writing now. It might be time for me to see if I can find that tale...
